As with other therapy services offered, no warranty or guarantee is made explicit or implied. As with any psychotherapy, unpleasant emotions, discomfort, distress and other reactions/responses may occur.
2. The assessment phase does not guarantee continuation into ongoing therapy.During the initial assessment phase of therapy (typically spanning the first four sessions), the therapist evaluates the couple to determine their suitability for ongoing therapy based on various factors. If during this phase it is determined that continuing with couples therapy may not be appropriate, the therapist will communicate this during the feedback session. Alternative suggestions and a plan for moving forward will be provided instead of continuing with couples therapy.
3. The therapist retains the discretion to discontinue therapy at any time if necessary.
Termination of therapy by the therapist is exceptionally rare and typically occurs only in extreme circumstances, such as instances of abuse directed towards the therapist or if the therapist feels unsafe. Although uncommon, the therapist reserves the right to make this decision if deemed necessary.
